A residential complex comprising 11 buildings with 5 floors each and commercial spaces facing Shabazi Street. The complex is part of a new neighborhood in southern Rosh HaAyin, completing a sequence of active and wide commercial streets, with part of it facing a pleasant urban square. The design maintains a clean facade for both the commercial street and the upper residential street, with all balconies recessed and enclosed within a light envelope that provides pleasant shading and airiness while maintaining a clean design. The interior is clad in dark stone, creating contrast and interest. The envelope extends to the street using white stone-clad columns in a uniform rhythm that accompanies the transparent commercial facades.
In this project, we analyzed and understood the concept of the "inner courtyard" and the differences between "backyard" and "inner courtyard," defining an additional hierarchy in the relationship between private and public spaces. The inner courtyard is intended for the exclusive use of the complex's residents, and as such, it must provide both privacy and community. The design reflects these insights in the scale of the meeting places between residents. The facades facing the inner courtyard feature balconies and public areas within the apartments oriented towards the courtyard. These architectural actions give substance to the inner courtyard, allowing it to be active and pleasant within the overall context.
